Racism begins with our families, parents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents, people we admire, respect and love.

However, as we grow and mature we come to the realization that what we were told by our family when we were children were slanted lies base on their prejudices. We realize that most people are like ourselves and not so different and want the same things, like a home, steady work, a Medicare plan and schools for our children (if you travel you will see this). We realize that most people are of good hearts and goodwill.

This reminds me of a parable from the good book where a Levite and Priest come upon a man who fell among thieves and they both individually passed by and didn’t stop to help him.

Finally a man of another race came by, he got down from his beast, decided not to be compassionate by proxy and got down with the injured man, administered first aid, and helped the man in need.

Jesus ended up saying, this was the good man, this was the great man, because he had the capacity to project the “I” into the “thou,” and to be concerned about his fellow man.

You see, the Levite and the Priest were afraid, they asked themselves, “If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?”

But then the Good Samaritan came by. And he reversed the question: “If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?”

That’s the question before us. The question is not, “If I stop to help the immigrant in need, what will happen to me?” The question is, “If I do not stop to help the immigrant, what will happen to him or her?” That’s the question.

This current climate of blaming others for our woes is not new. We have had this before and we have conquered it.

Remember “Evil flourishes when good men (and women) do nothing”. Raise your voices with those of us who believe we are equal and we can win this battle again.

This has also reminded me of another incident…
Track back to a couple of new years eves ago, when a certain person who shall remain nameless decided on a ill-timed bit of DIY shall we say – to wit: putting the window through with a hammer to prompt the council to fix it.
Unfortunately some busybody down the way noticed this and called the police. Who promptly arrived in force and banged him up from 9 in the morning until midnight on new years day.
The mind boggles why they felt it was needed to barge through the door (complaining en route about the “vicious” dog that took a snap at them as if this was a totally unlikely thing for a dog to do to an intruder), interrupt a few assorted punks having a post squat party beer to arrest, from what was pretty much his own house, someone who had broken his own window.
Despite those of us remaining (including the legal tenant of the property) stating clearly that no charges were to be pressed, the perpetrator admitting to his silliness, they came back three times in the course of the day. With a warrant to search for the implement – the hammer, which despairingly we gave to them from where it had been replaced under the sink. Then to ask if we actually wanted him released and returned. And lastly (and you will recall an admission had been obtained) to swab the window for blood to match the crime with the “criminal’s” DNA.
So far as I remember, not even a caution was issued…
Overtime? Or something more sinister, in that the person concerned could perhaps be described as a political agitator at times.

My very favourite part of the whole episode was that by the time we had finished speaking to police man #1 the thug who had, ten minutes earlier, been shouting and swearing, generally abusing us, kicking our door in, making threats and leaving us afraid to leave the house had been elevated to a hard working, upstanding member of the community who just wanted his days wage, a good old fashioned, salt of the earth working class gent!
Didn’t look like one to me, what he looked like was a testosterone fuelled chav who had one too many lines of coke and one too many stellas the night before and felt like bullying someone because he though he could get away with it….. turns out he can!

AH bless ya, meat clever next time,
the x phoned me up saying a 37 year old smag dealer, WAS be friending my daughter and her mates, priming them, my daughter who is 14,has been in his flat with her mate and by herself,
WPC speaks to my x,nothing done, i phone chester police station up, on a 0845 number women says sorry nothing we can do, i threaten to go to the local press,ah im not a police women , i got through, cop looks on the computer, ah the cop is of for 3 days, so been a clever twat asked as a CID 16 and multi agency been done , the reply its different in england than wales, sorry no its not.
Phoned the x up told her all this and what my next plan of action was, late that night she goes round the guys flat,she had been round about 6 times to have a word, kicks the door in ,wow he is in, and says you will talk to be, he phones the cops, she runs back home, she phones the cops, cops not talk to her.
So in this society its ok for nonces to go around and abuse under age young people,what happened to protect and serve, appears until mu daughter makes a statment nothing can be done, its wednesday so i will be phoning the cops up.
on another point my daughter whom was bullied at school , nothing was done, when my daughter is missbehaving the cops jump straight on her.
I looked on her bebo, and she looks like she lives in paris on a catwalk,could my daughter be a gangster,seems every girl round her way is. what to do, this one is very hard to solve when its your own kids.
